Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY11) is again hosting a Presidents' Day Essay Contest for Brooklyn and Staten Island elementary school students. Students in grades 3 through 5 are encouraged to participate and write essays about what they would do to improve their country and community if they were President of the United States. The Congresswoman hopes to use this contest as a means of engaging young people in civics, while also fostering a sense of community.Contest winners will receive a certificate of recognition, a gift card to a local bookstore and will be invited to a pizza party where they will have the opportunity to meet with Congresswoman Malliotakis and discuss their ideas.All essays must be submitted in Word or PDF format to NY11YouthEngagement@mail.house.gov by Friday, February 27, and must be no longer than 400 words in length.
